Information for Parents/Guardians
A fresh start in Delft! This is an exciting—and above all, very fun—time for your child! Through the OWee, your child will get to know the student city of Delft. The OWee is essential for giving your child a great start to their college life.
But what exactly does the OWee entail? It’s understandable that you, as a parent, might have some additional questions. Below, you can find more information about the OWee.
Why the OWee?
The OWee is the perfect way to get to know the student city of Delft! The OWee takes place before the academic year begins. During this week, your child will get acquainted with their program of study and all the various sports, academic, cultural, and student clubs. Your child will be placed in a small group with other participants who will be pursuing the same program of study. This allows your child to get to know fellow students right away, so they’ll quickly feel at home in Delft!
Alcohol Policy
We take the consumption of alcohol very seriously. For example, no alcohol is served before 5:00 p.m. No alcohol is served to anyone under the age of 18. If participants under the age of 18 do consume alcohol or if anyone behaves inappropriately, appropriate measures will be taken.
Emergencies
If you have serious concerns about your child, please call this emergency number: +31 6 44 059 119. For less urgent questions, you can contact us .
Is it possible to stay overnight in Delft?
It is possible to stay overnight in Delft during OWee. When registering, you can choose to sign your child up for a “Sleep-Inn” house. This is a student house that provides accommodations specifically for OWee participants. It’s a fun way to get a glimpse of student life! Your child can also indicate their preference for the type of house they’d like to stay in. There is also the option for your child to stay in one of our dormitories in the X sports halls.
Food
All meals are provided during OWee, so your child does not need to bring their own food. We will also take any allergies your child may have into account. In addition, there are plenty of places in Delft to grab a bite to eat; please refer to the BINAS, which will be sent to you after your child has registered at TU Delft. It contains a wealth of information about the city. You can view the online version of the BINAS on the homepage as an example.
